Recapping is the thing that everyone is immediately recommending for old equipment in a lot of the web forums nowadays. I think it is a bit of a hype, but of course when a capacitor goes bad and leaks all over it will be very bad for your gear.
My Amiga 1200 is running well and there are no signs of any problems with any of the capacitors on this Amiga, but as I had to open it to install the Indivision flicker fixer I decided I might as well replace them with new capacitors, and so I would not have to worry about them later on.
There are convenient packs with replacement capacitors with the right values for Amigas available in online web stores.
In the Amiga 1200 there are only 14 surface mounted and 4 through hole mounted capacitors, so the replacement is fairly straight forward. You do need to be careful with some of the capacitors as they are mounted very close to other components.
Some soldering experience is needed, especially for the surface mounted parts.
